FFIM possibility poll

Hello everyone I have been researching and getting some stuff together to make a go at making some front facing intake manifolds.
There are a few different options im pursuing. A short runner style which will be the most expensive option. a long runner style which will most likely be the least expensive for aluminum. Or call me crazy or stupid, but ive ive been considering ofering a steel intake manifold in a short runner style. It will not have the great looks of a nicely polished aluminum intake. However it should be close in the flow rates and alot less expensive as an option. These would also be powder coated in your choice of color.

I NEED to know if there is any interest here on these.

thats what my plan is.
If all goes well im hoping to have the steel intakes available for about $300. Not sure what the aluminum ones will cost. (they require water jet cutting for the flanges)

Ron has been doing this a while though, and has built up a reputation for building awesome parts. Personally, I would buy from Ron before I bought from some new guy with no reputation behind making FFIMs.

Phoenix, its the same head for N/A or turbo, so it would fit both applications accordingly.

Make the steel one, if you go with a more expnsive design its gonna sell less especially b/c you'll be getting into rons market, plus most MK3 owners are cheap thats why we dont have MK4's

i have no idea how a steel manifold is gonna flow compared to a ported aluminum manifold. But it shouldnt be too terribly far off.

Am down for a FFIM...

As i see it right now, there's only 2 people making em and a bunch of people wanting FFIM.... In the long run, am very sure funky_monkey will put some good blood/ sweat/tears into this bad boy to represent himself and not only that help out fellow mk3 owners. Its a good thing when forum members try things, its just helps out everybody! All in all, I think it will be a good deal and a well suited FFIM.

I seriously doubt the price will be $300.00 by the time it's over . Go ask Ron how many hours he put into one of his manifolds and then you'll have a good idea of what you're commiting yourself to...

i do realize that aluminum dissipates heat alot faster than steel. However on the same note in order to manufacture a manifold at a cost effective manor for the average guy sometimes alternative methods are called upon.
I am currently in the process of blue printing my steel manifold. Once im done blue printing, i will send the blue prints out to a machine shop with a laser cutter. Then have them manufacture me a dozen manifold flanges, of those two of which will be used in making my jigs.
This is a timely process and ill post pics as soon as the first intake is complete.

They will be available in both stainless and mild steel. The mild steel will either be powder coated or chromed.
