Few races for the 1j

First race was last night with a gutted SR20, i was told 8psi, and i know hes like 1000lbs lighter than i am, he kept up pretty good. i mean he put down 320rwhp on 20psi. anyway he wanted to roll race, so we get on the highway we are at 75mph so i get in 3rd, well we slowed down to about 60 so i should have started in 2nd, but he tears off. im at like 3K in 3rd it takes me a bit to start pulling on him, but when i shift out of 3rd ~110 i made up the car i was behind and am about a car ahead. take it up to 130 and hes about 3-4 cars back. all in all a decent race.

The next race was with a Black Z06, it had atleast a catback but it was soo loud i wouldnt doubt headers either, but all i know is the catback. well we are crusing ~70 and he nods for me to go, so once i do he gets on it, it was suprisingly a very good race, from 70-120 he only was able to put about 5ft on me(i was just in front of his rear tire) The thing that makes me think it had more done was i had raced a stock Z06 from a 50 roll(his choice) and from 50-130 i pulled out 1.5 cars...

Anyway i was bored and thought id post a few races. im going to the track tues. and see what i can squeeze out. I hope i get my other stock IC before then, cause my IC now is fubar'd.

That's impressive. What all is done to your car? Bolt-on Z06s should have no problem going 120. Nicely done!

well how about i tell you what i havent had done yet.
i still have the stock y pipe,
i still have the stock 1j intake cam :icon_evil ,
i still have a fucked up stock IC,
stock IC piping(you should see it expand tho. :aigo: )

actually im running soo rich right now, that after racing my brother, blue/white fire came out of my exhaust tip for a few secs. not a pop mind you but a 18" blue flame.

Id like to get a 256 intake cam, hard pipes w/ FMIC, get her tuned, and get a better clutch in there. then id basically be maxing out the stock twins. there wouldnt be too much else left to do. That would really open her up and let her breathe.

That Z06 was SOO loud that it almost had to have headers, or straight pipes. When i go to the track tues, if i can get my 60' low enough, im aiming to touch the 12's. im not expecting it but im aiming for it. we will find out in 2 days.

How much boost are you running? Sounds like some nice runs. 240's just start to die up top. Tonight i took down one that has supposably run a 12.4 in the 1/4 and I know i'm no where near that fast in the 1/4

Well im runing well above the "danger level", but i have a buddy that found that after 23psi on the stock twins they start to loose power. he ran them at 19-23psi hard everyday for 6months. zero problems. im not running quite that much but close. when i run tommorow and if i hit 12's, ill spill the beans on all my mods. cause it would be an acomplishment.

Yeah, he owned a shop out here, and was trying to break the motor, and blow the twins up. he was unsuccessfull. he took a stock 1j to 10,500 on the dyno with no valve float, ran 23psi through the stock IC. for 6 months, ran the crap out of the motor, couldnt get it to break. but if it did break he had extra parts laying around.

Well im a tad dissapointed, but still not bad considering.

i ran a 13.61 @102.7mph with a 2.04 60', but i was having to short shift at 6500 cause my car would hesitate badly, sounded like a fluttering from the exhaust. my car is untned and we think its running soo rich that it could be saturating the plug causing it not to jump.

i was running consistant 2.00 60's with what i felt room to improve. not bad for a set of 245/40/17 Fuzions. they really got sticky when you heated them up. i was having trouble spinning them.

ill go back next year with it tuned, and a good IC, and see what i can improve.

potential for 12s i think. with a good 60' and not having to rev out early

maybe its your plugs causing you to break up under WOT at high RPM?

im running NGK 6097's gapped at .28 should i go lower? like .25? just seems extremly low to me?

im sure its one of those things thats a domino effect, a few small things add up to cause a problem. Had i stayed out for a few more runs i know i could have hit 1.9 60' and a 13.5 i know it, but i should be fighting that hard for a 12 pass not a mid 13 pass.
