there is a company that already has those for our cars. it's 1400 for the Driver and passenger side windows, then the left and right rear quarter panel windows, and the rear hatch window. They are made of Acrylic. The company's name is HPI. i just thought that i should let everyone know as an alternative to the custom route.

Nash: If you're serious about dropping weight take a shell and have it acid dipped!

It sounds like you don't care about creature comforts so this would be about the only time I'd make this recommdation as it turns the car into a lightweight noisy leaking thing.
(I personally think trying to save weight in a MK3 is a waste of time buy a Mk1/2)

honestly i'm not sure if it's the same company as the the hpi that makes stuff for RCs. i the place where i saw this product at was on LSAUTO.com, they are located in So Cal. They no longer have the link on their website, but i'm pretty sure if you call them, they'll let you know what's up.

i dont know it if is either but you can get some polycarbonate that is extremly strong. I think the issue might be installing the right type polycarbonate in there.

Also if you do that wont you loose the use of the defogger for the rear hatch. I dont know about you but its gets humid up here and can make everything fog up

Flex-A-Lite will make windows provided there is an initial buy-in of at least 10. My buddy's DSM forum had a bunch of members do this, best part is after the inial buy, they offer them for sale on the site.
