Just wondering, gettin a HKS FCD used and it has no instructions. What wires do I splice into on my 87 turbo 5spd? Is there a link for a schematic or anything? Any help as always is appreciated.

Our professional oppinion on FCDs is that you should sell it on ebay.
If you are wishing to bypass fuel cut, please tell us what your mods are and how much boost you seek to run, then we can advise you on what course of action to take to get around FCO.

Behind the keyboard...
Couldn't have said it better myself. FCO is a safety precaution. If you were to mount a FCD this precaution would be gone. And without proper mods or other precautions it will kill your engine in seconds.

It's a cheap thing... but your engine is not ;)

Please tell me again why my HKS FCD is a no no. I was running one for a couple of years before I over revved at the strip and broke the ringlands on #1 pistons. So, why are those FCD so bad?

Fuel cut is there incase of a failure of anything related to the waistgate/actuator or overboost, to save your motor.

example....

yesterday i was hitting fuel cut off at 11psi. With a high 12, low 13 a/f ratio.

Tonight i install 550cc injectors....11psi had 11.5 a/f where i tuned.
I test boosted to 14 psi without fuel cut off.

My 440 injectors were probobly on their last legs/ needed to be cleaned desperately.

FCO is your friend

Ok mods are as follows:
3" mandrel bent exhaust right off the turbo
2 1/4" intercooler hardpipes
HKS F-Con with GCC
Walbro 255lph pump

and performance wise, thats bout it.

Im lookin to run 11-12 psi without hittin the cut, no more then that. Im currently running 9 psi, but am hitting fuel cut immediately after shifting if im racing. I was told this is because the computer thinks im building boost to early. I just wanna basically run the psi im at now, maybe a lil higher, and be free of fuel cut, as it is severly hampering on my 1/4 mile e/t's. I ran a 13.68 @ 100.58 mph at 8psi, and I hit fuel cut between 2nd and 3rd. So if i can run equivalent psi, maybe a lil higher and not hit fuel cut, i'd be very happy. I can admit to, I currently don't know my exact A/F ratio, just that my auto meter A/F gauge is tellin me im runnin pig pig rich.

When I got a car, it had a FCD on it and I took it off and sold it, lol. Some people have good luck with them like the guy above that said he was running one for two years. But they are risky as people stated above, fuel cut is a safety precaution to protect your motor. My car also had a autometer a/f gauge on it when I got it which is now laying in the back of my closet. It didn't give me accurate info so I replaced it w/a AEM Wideband. . .in my opinion the widband is awesome and you can pick one up for less than 300 bucks. About fuel cut. . .best idea is to upgrade your fuel system correctly (550's, afm, and walbro 255 if needed) that's probably the last thing you want to hear though since that is several hundred dollars and you can pick up a used fcd for about 50-75.

Either way, good luck

87T, Do whatagainst suggested but turn it slowly, in increments until you can just drive the way you want to without hitting fco. By modding the stock afm, you can push fco up to at least 14 psi while still maintaining the FCO function as a fail safe.

So does my mod list sound safe to run 11-12 psi? as i said before, im runnin 8-9 psi now, and its pig rich. Also, im not hitting fuel cut during boost, just immediately after I shift, like when changing from 2nd to 3rd, the instant it goes into 3rd gear and im back on the gas it momentarily hits FC, then goes away again. Will the FCD fix this? or can I do the MAF mod and make it go away that route?

Neither the FCD, nor the maf "mod" are favored, nor are they suggested.

You are hitting Fuel Cut in 3rd, therefore the Fuel Cut Defenser will take that away.

The problem is, it's a band-aid. Some people like band-aids when tuning a car, for what reason, I shall never know.
Obviously your car is telling you something when it activates FCO. You just don't know what.
Suffice to say, TCCS is smarter than you in this situation.
MAFT-Pro is pretty cheap for it's capabilities and you will get no FCO!

Playing devils advocate here, Does the Maftpro eliminate FC all together/raise fuel cut or does it add more fuel so that fuel cut is not tripped?

Does the Maftpro need bigger injectors or can it work effectivly in his situation with the stock 440 injector size?
