Piraat's Amber Triple IPA is easily the best beer I've ever had, and at 10.5% it's no slouch. It's a belgian, yet IPA, very tasty. The 10.5% really sneaks up on you as it's almost completely hidden in the flavor (which being an amber, isn't overpowering)
2nd favorite is also a belgian style, Unibroue Terrible. Very dark, and again a well hidden 10.5% (but there's no drinking this beer fast, it's one to savor)
The rest are local San Diego beers, we have some of the best local brews (I hear Colorado does too). Some of you may have seen my 3rd favorite since Stone brewery is growing fast around the country, the Stone Pale Ale.
Karl Strauss' Amber Lager is a fantastic basic summer beer, so is their Red Trolley which is a little lighter.
My tastes have changed so much since moving here. I'm from Oklahoma and grew up on Coors & Bud light.....the 3.2% versions. Used to love Bud (yes, I know, me too, but that's another thread entirely), but now I have an understanding on why it's called 'fizzy yellow water'.
