so you are having a shop do all or most of the work for you? wow, not only expensive but you miss out on all the joy (and pain) of doing it yourself. I know, its just me but Im a "journey" nor a "destination" kinda guy.

However, that being said should be a damn nice ride when done and exciting when you go to pick her up. I'll keep my eye on this.

Yea the shop is doing ALL the work, in the grand scheme of things the price ive been quoted isnt that bad. I may miss out on the joys and pain but im not a "do it yourselfer" when it comes to automobiles.

I cant wait to get it back it wont even be the same car anymore, LITTERALLY

So I borrow a car today and stopped in at the shop to have a look around :)

First thing i saw when i walked in was old shell bare to the bone sitting there. It gave me time to look it over to see why i got rid of it. I knew the rust was bad but seeing the car stripped the rust was terrible. There was absolutely no way to save it. I i looked over the new shell and to my surprise my $100 shell has a pretty good paint job on it.

I looked over the block and it look good. Got my probe pistons installed and the arp head studs installed, ready to go. The head was almost ready, they had to finish adjusting the valves.

I asked about how much time it would take before it would be complete and i was quoted about 2 weeks. I wont hold my breath but it is close

I was down their yesterday, dropping mine off. Got a small oil leak and frankly dont feel like laying on my back to fix it lol
When scotty picked up that shell I had no idea it was for you, its a VERY solid shell. I'm against shops doing work, but yours is in great hands. I've known scotts brother for awhile, he helped me build my first motor and you wont find anybody scotts age that knows more about cars.
A piece of advice, paint that shell before anything goes on it, quality paint is like a block away, they'll spray it for like 200 bucks

Its a small world after all :biglaugh:
Ive felt confident with them and now im even more confident that i made the right decision to let them tackle my huge mess of a supra.Whats the name of the paint shop, ive already told them i was getting it painted so they've already prepped it for paint. Thanks for that shell you practically gave it away.

Just got in from collecting the parts. There was some leather seats, front fenders, rear bumper, inside door paneling, hood, targa, rear subframe, sawblades , spare tires, and a gas tank. I trashed everything but the front quarter panels, hood, targa, gas tank, and the two sawblades. Ill propobly put the fenders, hood, and targa up forsale in the upcoming weeks. Im sure some could use some good fenders for the wrecked supra :)

Now updates for the car are its getting the special treatment. Shocks and springs were being prepped while i was their. Also the the Poly bushings were getting ready to be installed as well. Chris showed me while i was there that the car aleardy had ss brake lines and drilled rotors. I already had purchased slotted rotors and ss brake lines, so ill have extra rotors and brake lines now. Which is a bonus to me.

I thought they were going to have it running in two weeks..............luckily you didn't hold your breath. I can't wait to see the finished product. When they stripped it, did they find my hemostats?..........:biglaugh:

Ok i just had a brain fart. It just hit me that my new shell is a turbo 91 and its equipped with the differential. Im having my w-58 installed, but i will be using the speedo gear thats associated with the n/a gear set. How much with this affect my speedometer. And how can i correct this, will the speedo gear from the r-154 fit the w-58?

I was curious why you would use a w58 on a turbo car

Short answer im an idiot

Long answer-I didnt want to replace my jawsgear aluminum driveshaft. Then on top of that i went ahead and bought a light weight flywheel and clutch. Between just the clutch and d/s thats about a $1000 i would have to re-spend. Ive set my limit to 3 w-58's. Whenever i blow the first one ill start collecting parts for the r-154 swap, and by time i blow the 3rd one i should be ready to swap with minimum downtime

If i could do it again i wouldnt even consider the w-58, but oh we live and we learn

Also if anyone has an answer to my speedo gear question it would be greatly appreciated :)

Got my update for the day, goes as follows:

My suspension is finished. The Koni Yellows, H&r springs, RK poly bushings, tanabe sways, and swaybar endlinks are now installed and ready to go.Car already had s.s. brake lines, and drilled rotors.

I was told IF they keep this pace up they are looking at an end of next week first time fire up. So everyone cross yourfingers and lets hope we can get a next week first fire up
