Of course, as was mentioned NOTHING to include electrical fans is free.

Because now, instead of the load being a mechanical load, you are making it an electrical load which means a bigger mechanical load on the Alternator. Being genrous and giving the alternator a 90% efficency at converting the rotation to energy, you are looking at around 3-4hp LOSS from the increased alt load due to inductance.

my alt can take it! :evil2:

Anyones alt to include stock can "take it". That is not the issue. The issue is that you are just changing where the load will be. From mechanical to electrical. As I stated before, nothing is free, A highler load seen by he laternator will produce a bigger magnetic field which will affect the HP of the motor as now it takes more power to turn the alternator. The issue is more pronounced on alternators with higher current capacity ;)

what i ment was im putin out 14.4v and 220amps at 1700rpms and two batteries... so the load to me wouldnt be so substantial... but yes i do get what you are saying... take the one fan away and add the electric and your basically zeroing your HP out because what your gaining your loosing right away

i'm using 03 dodge stratus fans as we speak. they have a built in shroud and cover the entire radiator. no cooling issues... altho i would recommend getting a upgraded alt if u use these

Yep, as the mechanical fan doesn't have an energy change (mechanical to mechanical) it's more efficiant than electric (mechanical to electric to mechanical).

But does anyone listen to us? Noooooo....

Thank You Jdub and Figgie. I just figured a bigger clutch/fan combo from a Tundra would be better at pulling air because it was designed to pull alot of air under low speed, high torque conditions. I in no way want to get rid of a fan set up, But if there is a more efficient way to move air I am all about it.

Not it's about that peope don't listen. They like to have choices, and do what suits them. I hear you but I don't have to do it your way. The beauty of freedom of expression!
The load issue is there but the battery compensation in my ECU off sets the drain, and oh yeah MY E Fans work flawlessly. Dare I say better than stock at idle as well.:naughty:

It's a matter of preference and choice IMHO!

never had an issue with a properly working clutch fan/shroud combo.Between that and putting more load on the oh-so powerful stock alternator,I can think of many other things to spend $200+ on.

Yes, but you actually took the time to properly wire them in and used a good fan setup.

All too often I see a single small fan stuck to the radiator with zipties and wired with thin gauge wire without fuses or failsafes...

These are the same people that think the stock fan sucks because their car overheats because they have a missing fan shroud and/or other problems...

How true.....sad to say, but all too true.
