I didn't get to try with headphones last night, but I did try taking two "Bonine" pills [similar to Dramamine - I tried this one because Dramamine didn't work for me for Portal awhile back]. It took awhile for me to feel sick, BUT I spent part of my time inside of a building. I need to spend more time outside to see if that helps. I hate being a guinea pig, but I've been waiting to play this game for a long time.
I have to tell you.. I feel like crap today. I feel very weak and a little sore. I might be getting a cold or a flu, so I won't discount that, but it may be from the pills, too. I had trouble waking up and though I slept a good amount of time, I just feel SO beaten and sluggish.

I don't think that's it, either. When I separated from the military I was checked out at the VA for tinnitus in disability claims. When they did that, they did a bunch of hearing tests, including a part where they pressurize and check each ear.

No, but this morning I woke up and played for over an hour and did not get sick. This was both indoor and outdoor in the game. Maybe my eyes just need time to get used to the strain?
I remember when I first got the Half-Life2 pack with TF2 and Portal.. I was getting sick, but kept pushing every night. Eventually I didn't feel sick anymore and was able to beat them all. A few months ago I reinstalled and tried Portal again and it almost had me vomiting in 15 minutes. The key to this might be adjustment.

Yea I noticed this when I didn't play an FPS for like 2+ months, tried CS and was dizzy. Keep playing, no pain, no....umm? lvl?

A good part of the day today was spent playing Fallout 3. I have moved back from the monitor a bit, which probably helps. I do not know if it was my eyes needing to get used to the strain of this game, if it was the monitor width or distance, or even something small like getting used to mouse sensitivity and how it affects movement of view. It was probably a combination of these things. I did not feel sick at all while playing, and I played in a variety of indoor and outdoor places in the game, with different lighting levels. I felt a little sick when I stopped playing, but I think that was partially because I was hungry.
Adjustment and adaptation may have been the problem here. My eyes are 2 to 2.5 feet from the monitor while playing. I may try and adjust it if I still occasionally feel sick, but for right now things are going well. I may also try the headphone thing if the sickness comes back with a vengeance.

I found that I got a bit sick when I played on my bro's computer and not mine, but I have a light to the right of my desk and he doesn't.

Much like in an iMax theater, if you can't tell that you're not moving in some way (like the light next to my desk, or backing away from the screen) you might get disoriented...

This is why I was asking if has used headphones, blocking out everything else and being more into the environment of the game will help.

True, but my father when he would play BF1942 with us, he would get extremely motion sickness with no headphone on, don't ask me why but he could only play the game with them on. It was like the headphones kept him in balance or something.

I've been doing great playing this game.
I just wanted to see if anyone else is playing, and how far they are.

I am in an escort type quest with the Brotherhood of Steel and Liberty Prime. This part of the game is just fantastic!
Seeing that giant robot blast the baddies and recite things like "Freedom is a sovereign right of every American" gets you pumped. It is nice to know the neighbors are already awake so I can keep the volume up and experience the explosions and squad-type fight. I hope others are enjoying this game as well!

Well considering it is a non-linear game it really doesn't matter about the ending. I wish the ending was better too, but just save before the ending and then play all the side missions.

Yeah, I am going to have to do that. At least this kept me occupied until the WoW expansion.

Just FYI your almost at the end of the game, saving right before you go with freedom is the best idea.
I found more of the side missions a lot funner than the main mission. That and Lincolns repeater is the freakin shit! Sniper FTW!

Sorry for the change of topic... but... Anybody here have Red Alert 3?

I'm thinking about buying it since I looooove(d) Red Alert 2 and the like... just curious if anybody got it and can enlighten me whether it is worth it or not.

I shall also read some reviews and stuff but usually the official reviews tend to differ quite a bit from personal reviews.

Yes, I'm playing both right now. RA3 is pretty fun, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it quite this much, to be honest.

The video sections are over the top - bad acting, skimpy clothes on the female commandos, excessive fruit salad on the officer's uniforms, etc, etc, but the gameplay itself is much better. The AI is closer to Artificial Stupidity in many situations, though.

I can't tell if it is just when I move fast or not - it stacks up on me over time, usually 10-30 minutes in. It is hard to pinpoint a feeling like this to an exact sensory response. Maybe I will have to waste a little time just staring at a non-moving screen and see if I still get sick.

I read up on these sorts of sicknesses. The theory is that your body cannot correlate what it is seeing with what it is feeling [balance and acceleration type equilibrium sensing in the inner ear] and therefore makes the assumption that you are hallucinating - from being poisoned! This is where nausea and vomiting comes in to play.

It might be FPSs that do it exclusively.. I can play WoW all day and not feel sick.

If you don't get sick from WoW, try scrolling out in F3. It has a third person view as well.

My biggest gripe with F3 so far is the underwear. Your character must carry around a F'ing big laundry hamper with him, because every time you search the body of some scantily clad lunatic you've just shot and take their armor to sell, you also stop and redress their corpse in volumous dirty underwear.

The shit software companies will do to satisfy censors is ridiculous.
