I did the exact same thing (with the same results) on an old moped back in high school :) Of course, it was a bit awkward, as the moped's gas tank was part of the frame. I ended up lifting it on the overhead winch in my garage, went through the same procedure. My dad taught it to me. :) The moped never ran better!

few weeks back we had 5 Supras total, 3 of them mk3s....

Oh, and I also turned a local mk3 owner to the dark side (bc we have cookies). Drove him home and did the fishtail in 1st and he was loving it :)

I loves mah Supraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Great, you fell in love, but you changed an MKIII owner to the MKII? You can roast tires in 1st, BUT in an MKIII, you can do it in 3 gears, 4th in some.

:D All in fun...lol

Show me a NA mk3 that can roast tires through 3 gears :sarcasm:

Oh, with only $1,400 invested.

:biglaugh:

p.s. dropping the clutch @ high rpms in my car = no traction til 4th, normal launches = only chirping 3rd.

Not that 14" wheels, high profile tires and a 1970's style suspension contribute to a lack of traction or anything...

I love the MKII, but claiming that it is in anyway mechanically superior to the MKIII is ludicrous.

Uhhhhh where did you see that I said that? :nono: Merely was trying to portray what kind of performance gain my car has gotten over the course of putting some gas flow back into the engine. Whereas it didn't burn out insanely before it does now., doesn't matter though, I'm obviously a jerk for trying to play.

Think this thread has served whatever usefulness it might have had. Please lock it up.

Nobody said you're a jerk for trying to play, so don't get your Napoleon Complex driven panties in a bunch.

As I stated I love the MKII. It's a fantastic piece of machinery, and considering the age of its design, it's held up well. Moreover anyone who improves, restores or maintains a MKII deserves a pat on the back, they are fine pieces of Toyota history and a hell of a lot of fun.

With that said, just as the MKII outclasses the MKI, the MKIII is a much better design than the MKII, will out run, out handle, out ride and outclass the MKII any day.

(The MKIV will do the same to the MKIII)

It's evolution. These cars were made better by Toyota in each incarnation. While we all have our favorites, any objective evaluation of these cars has to admit that mechanically, each generation shows tremendous improvement over the last.

If you want to stomp off in a huff and take your toys and go home, do so, you don't need my help.

The rest of us are enjoying ourselves in this thread - I'm not locking anything.

Cool story. Have fun, I can't anymore. I just feel like a tool for trying to play whether that was your mission or not. Getting all technical over shit I didnt EVEN SAY is what's making me irate. I do not CARE about mk2 < mk3 < mk4, as I did not bring that up.

From burnouts to what generation is better was not my intention at all. You must really think me a moron to not have already known about the Supra evolution, and that each is better than the last. I didn't step off the Supra boat yesterday.

Holy thread backfire, I feel like I'm in SFOT all of a sudden :(

Mike was just saying that the reason a MK2 can roast tires through more gears than a MK3 was because it has less ability to keep traction.

It doesn't matter, he was just saying it.

And if our goal is the maximum amount of tire-roastage per hp, then the Mk2 actually would be superior in the given context, so Tanya wins.

I'll write up an integral that calculates contact patch as affected by dynamic camber gain, then run the torque curve compared to the available final drive ratios and get back to you in the morning.

And we all know the Mk2 and Mk3 have far better seats than the Mk4 :)

Exactly, it was just a reason for the fact, not saying one is better than the other. Depends on the end goal.

PS: Love the MK2/3 seats.

You can say that again. MKIV factory seats suck.

I wouldn't know. I've never even sat in one.:nono:

My sisters 1982 L-Type is where my love for Supras started and if I ever get another supra project it will be an MKII. The only reason I didn't get one when I began my supra search several years ago is because I was getting out of a 1985 Celica GT-S and wanted something with a different interior and more luxury. I've got a good rebuildable 7MGE block that I could put in it if I get one. Tanya and TireShredders would be my inspiration. His car is phenomenal while hers is raw badass-ness (is that a word?).
