Is there any real difference between these factory exhaust manifolds.

Obviously Toyota redesigned the part for some reason but I have been unable to find any information regarding the differences. Both have the little double mountain casting mask so they were manufactured by the same company. I guess my question is do they have different flow qualities, quicker spool, or changes to the power band.

I think there was an issue with the older manifolds cracking causing exhaust leaks. The newer style added more material to each each port. Hence the ridge backing you see on the second photo. The first photo you can see the weak points in it where the red discoloration is due to heat cycles. Mine cracked on two different ports causing huge leaks. A buddy had an extra mani since he went T4 tubular an it was a beefed up version.

Yep, later one is more resistant to cracking. Also, mine isn't cracked (then again, most people rip off all the supports for the damn thing and then wonder why the turbo keeps coming loose...)
