Looking at your dash cluster, Canukrz and its lack of a security light and labeling on the far right upper corner of the cluster, I would venture to say that your car did not come with the security system.
Now whether or not you car is wired for it is a different story. It could very well be but I cant say forsure. Jeff Lange could probably easily tell by looking up the wiring harness part number for your car and see if its the same part number as one for a car known to have the security system. If the harness is the same number, then you car would be wired, if its different, then chances are that you car wont be wired....

My '88 owners manual says that the theft deterrent system is a USA only thing. Don't know the history of your vehicle, but I suppose it's possible that it never came with the system if it wasn't originally intended for the US market.
Canuckerz lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm fairly certain that Canadian cars didn't come with the factory installed alarm like the US market. It was an option.

Security system was only for USA, no other country ever had it.
Also, the holding the handle thing was removed from Toyotas in North America for the 1988 model year (across the board). They kept doing it in Japan until who knows when. My brother's JZA80 you still have to hold the handles to lock the doors.

Ok that's what I was starting to figure, would you know if its wired to accept it though? I know most of our pre 89's were wired to accept a super monitor.
