I have a 1990 mkIII, evidently the previous owner put a new igniton lock cylinder in it because the key doesn't work on my doors. What's going on is the alarm keeps going off everytime I open the door, anyway I can disable the alarm for good?

why is it this question seems to pop up alot.

If you don't have an answer; Why post?

hsvmk3 - Like mecevans said, it's probably the ring on the back of the door key cylinder. Try unlocking from the other side. Does it still do it?

I took it by my friends shop and we took the door panel off on the drivers side and took the hot wire for the factory alarm and grounded it off on the door, it has not came on sense.

I had the same problem. Very intermittent. Sometimes it would behave for days and sometimes it would go off each time I opened the door. Often it would go off after sitting for no appearant reason. My problem seems to of been the yellow rotary switch on the back of the lock cylinder, driver side. It just unclips and can be taken apart and cleaned. The think is not sealed and faqirly gunked up. I ohmed it out before and after. Just did it today but so far so good. It's just a bit of a bitch to get to.
