SPEC- eh. fine for mild power, but get close to their rated tq and say good bye. my old stage 3 didn't like drag racing much....then again, what single disc clutch does for a 3500 lb car?

RPS- the stories are true. unless you've got deep pockets, they won't give you the time of day. i had one of their old carbon claw setups on my W58, they assured me it would hold and do exactly what i wanted....then after i bought it and broke it in for well 1k miles it never held reliably- sometimes it would slip, sometimes it would grab. i contacted them about it and they said tough luck. don't even get me started on their Al FW.....

I've got the rps full face street/sport or whatever it is. Almost 300hp 50+ drag passes and 40,000+ miles no problems. It did slip for a little while but that was due to a bad master cylinder. I talked to them during that time period and they were willing to work with me on the problem.

Remember. You'll always hear about the things that go wrong more than the things that go right.

SPEC couldn't handle your powah?

No good man. Let us know what went wrong, and all the feedback on their side, I'm interested to know if this is isolated or maybe a bad batch of material, or something else.

why the hate on RPS?

****crack knuckles****

where to start.

first I like to call them RP$ and sometimes reffer to them as REAL POOR SERVICE.

Short story.

Asked if they could custome make a 7m double carbon. They said yes, they take 2800 dollars of mine.

3 months later. I get the word that my project is back burner because low priority....excuse me? You mother fuckers have 2800 dollars of mine and now it is a back burner. You have exactly 10 hours to refund my money otherwise I am suing you for breach of contract. money back. they can burn in hell. I rather pay Tilton the 4800 dollars.

Just like ATI and any other company that has ever done a custom part. They keep me informed and actually have customer service. RP$ can burn in hell for all I care.

most know I won't write a loathing post about a company but RP$ did something to me that no other company has and that was give me the run around especially when my cash was in thier hands.

RP$... yep Really Poor $ervice.

Well here we go.

first I will get this off my chest.

RealPoorService can literally go to proverbial hell for all I care.

* Paid for C/C clutch for MKIII supra (btw guys i was the one that got this ball rolling AGAIN for the MKIII crowd)
* ETA given one month. Placed order on June 29, 05.
* July 28, 05 - C/C clutch had clearance issues so back to drawing board. Given another month ETA.
* Aug 19, 05 - RPS is closed for one week for vacation. Ok who the hell closes in the middle of the year for vacation??? I can see christmas and new years but in the middle of August??
* Aug 30 05 - RPS can not put Rob on phone because they are backlogged from vacation (see above aug 19, 05 post for my thoughts on that)
* Sept 1 05 - RPS now says that they are still back logged and now the item I paid for has become "this is not a priority at this time".

First off, if it is not a priority to RPS. Then I will find a company that WILL make it a prioirty even if have to pay more! I am understanding and I rarely post here but not when I get given a line like that which i interpret as... your money is not a priority to us.

so in short.. ReallyPorrService..

............................

there in stereo.

Also you can make sure that I will not ever recommend your "product" to anyone especially with such "GREAT" customer service.

two years later and you best believe i still stand behind what I posted 100%

I'll never buy another SPEC either. The first one I bought had a bent, or more like pinched, end of the metal disk that would have gouged the flywheel had Idealsupra not seen it. The second disk I bought was warped. $700 bucks down the drain, they are the suxor

you still owe me a PM sir! havent heard from you in forever.... i miss you

as for spec.....ive had the same one in my car for over 4 years...im not pushing any crazy power but i beat the living hell out of it and have nothing but good things to say... so i dunno :dunno:

ACT extreme duty clutch FTW.... 20K miles @ almost 500ft/lbs of torque and still going strong... probably 40-60 drag passes on it too.

the RPS PP likes to come out of alignment and go out of balance, not the mention it takes out your thrust bearings in your engine and have destroyed many engines this way (tons of info on this elsewhere).

They will NOT admit they have a problem, nor will they repair under warranty, or pay for engine repairs when the PP is obviously the problem.

Over 500hp I'd go to a multi-plate... OSGiken or Tilton, or if you're 1J or 2J you can run an Exedy.
