HI
after looking at my friends regal t type wastegate

wondering if anyone has tried running an external wastegate at the end of a ddp with the internal gate flap removed

seems like it would work, no?

It might have a hard time building boost, the length of the runner might cause issues...

Not to mention this is another "Why?" mod where there would be zero gain except for lightening your wallet and being "different."

mmm good point about the runner length

arent external wastegates better, because you can choose the size that best matches your turbo/tune, and is far more consistent? no?

and it wont waste the ddp design if you atmosphere dump the external gate

nm,
seems like evo X guys are already doing this

The turbo they use has a different flange, theres nothing to leak there because its two separate holes in the flange on both the turbine housing and the downpipe.

Seems like a little much for stock turbo and all that. I dont think it would be worth it. The stock internal gate regulates boost without issue.

The only thing I can see running an external gate for is to run more boost than the internal gate would allow. On our cars you're blowing nothing but hot air before that point...

this wont be used on a stock turbo

most likely something around the lipp boss t04e 57 trim or a jt61gt

something around that size with boost levels ranging from 10-22psi
