External Wastegate Leaking?

I've just started my build for the first time and it fired into life although the HKS external wastegate seems to be leaking exhaust gases at idle from the screamer pipe (quite loud) is this normal or have I fitted it wrong somehow?

I assumed the wastgate would stay shut until it was opened by the electronic boost controller, otherwise surely if it leaks at idle then the engine wont be able to build boost up

Help greatly appreciated

do you have a Strong enough vaccum on it? I would check to make sure you have a strong enough vaccum on it?

the valve may just need to seat.. I would hit boost with it and let the valve open and shut. Also as the WG heats up the metal will expand and it *might* start to seal.

I did wonder if I may have fitted slightly wrong was going to have a good look tommorow, Only problem is I can't drive the car at the moment until I have made my intake pipe with filter, so am not able to see if boost would make it seat properly.

Do you think its worth unbolting it or just wait until I can drive it and see what happens?

you'd be fine without a filter with just one quick pull. unless you live on a dirt road or gravel road. but if its a well paved area one or two pulls won't effect anything.

but if you don't want to do that. id just wait until you get an intake pipe and filter on it

HKS huh? Real one? Did you install the metal insert with it? There's an insert with a ring that protrudes into the valve creating a tight seal. It won't seal properly without it.
