Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to remove a silencer off any muffler. I have a 4.5" Megan racing muffler. The bolt & nut are off but it still seems to be stuck, i've tried prying it with a cro-bar, Flathead screwdriver, Spraying it with WD-40, Using vice grips, and a coat hanger. I've pulled so hard on this silencer that the Supra starts to roll even when its in gear

I can't get this thing out!!! anyone have any tips or any different ways to get it out? :1zhelp:

i dont knw if this will help you but how bout putting some heat around the exhaust where the silencer is with a torch. and try pulling it out. dont get it red hot. this might ruin the look of your exhaust. hope it helps.

Usually the fit is pretty tight and any gap is filled by carbon deposites over time. You're also up north, so rust could also do the same.

WD-40 sucks, try PB Blaster...

Also, i will try this.

This is the style silencer i have, i have the front of the silencer all bent into the middle of the silencer. to help it move freely. (i got aggravated and don't care if i ruin it anymore.)

I'll attempt at removing it again tomorrow.

+1 on the PB Blaster...

I watched Ed.D(super.secret) pull the Megan silencer off his car once. He had a vice grip on it, and was pulling on it while pushing off the bumper in this strange... suspended pose. 5 seconds later he did a reverse sumo headbutt away from the car, and the silencer was packed away. Good times.

Well i finally got the darn thing off!!! :icon_surp

I drove it around for a while to heat up the muffler. Then i soaked it with PB blaster after driving it on the highway for like 15 mins. Took the jack pole thing like BorHor said and yanked it maybe 10 times before it actually popped out.

Here are pics of this ugly thing. I might cut the front dented part and drill a hole for the screw and nut to be able to reuse the silencer.

You can generally get replacements on Ebay for cheap.

I thought of that already but decided not to waste my money because i bought the Chinaman's 3" v-band from my bro and am waiting till summer to put that on and that has a 3" tip not 4.5" so it would kind of be a waste for me. For the meantime though i think that cutting it would work?

This thread is a good example of community help.

I like that his problem was presented, people suggested things and he came back using all of the ideas to get it to work.

Shouldn't be a problem cutting and re-using.
