have a 92 2.5 twin turbo I am going to replace the exhaust from the downpipe back... when we were looking at it today we noticed just after the cat there is this sensor and the wires run into the body right by it.. it doesnt look like a regular o2 sensor so I was wondering if anyone knows of what it is.. and if it is somethig i can just eliminate or do i have to put it into the new pipe????
also someone was mentioning that the pipe could be a double walled pipe and was wondering if that was also true
thanks for the help

could be a wide band sensor, but usually a guage is present in the car, unless it was hooked up to a computer
Your knowledge of JZA70s is teh fail!

It's an exhaust gas temperature sensor. It flashes a warning light if your cat starts to overheat. Yes, you can simply remove it with no ill effects.

So I am getting my exhaust done tommorow and the shop thats doing it doesnt know what that sensor is and they think it might be an 02 sensor even thought i tell them its a sensor for the temp of the cat and what not and they want me to make sure first so i dont delete it and have some epic failure because i needed it..LOL. so can some more ppl for sure say its that sensor that rob was talkin about??

Yep ,def for cat over heating, My 1G had one until i removed it! mine was in the rear of the cat, also you will notice that 1jz cats are slightly longer than 7m ones,

Correct, 1JZ cats are 1" longer than 7M ones.

If the shop is worried about the sensor, cut the wires at your house, then drive there with it disconnected to show them that it doesn't change anything.
