I'm running 3" Tanabe Hyper Medallion with a 3" test pipe and I love it. Super quiet, and sounds good at high rpm's too. I'm going to be getting a recirulated DDP soon, so that will round off everything!

Def 3 inch downpipe, if it doesnt come with an elbow, get one, its possibly the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. Test pipe will not cause any problems, however you may get people driving behind you upset with bad smells, however I run one and do not have this issue. I also run HKS Turbo exhaust, super quiet, yet has a low sexy idle.

lol.. I just hate that sound though.. maybe its the association of the ricer with the sound.
Currently, the Supra is not what I would call quiet, but its like a whispy sound, rather than a rumble. I remember a 5M-GE that I drove that had a nice quiet purr, and then when you stepped on it, you could hear/feel a growl. Thats what I am ultimately looking for.

Having said that, I think that sound is less important than performance.

I am confused by the elbow issue though, I thought that the elbow gets replaced in a complete exhaust replacement. (everything from the Manifold to the bumper gets replaced doesnt it?) Also, if I keep the CAT, am I not introducing a restrictive force? I dont personally believe Cat converters are useful at all since lead was removed from the gas...

I've heard some of the Youtube cars, and all I thought was... every cop in a 12 block radius now knows you tromped on it.. lol.

So, basically..if I went with a 3" Raptor Catback system with the Magnaflow mufflers (resonator is included.. I believe the Cat would be removed with this one), the Lipp elbow replacement plus a 3" divorced downpipe..
I think i may have talked to George about 4-5 months ago, but had a financial issue come up which stopped me in my tracks...

Thinking Stainless steel would be best to go with as well.

After reading the link.. I think George can probably help me period.. lol. I will contact him and get him to provide the entire deal (I think he does that). Plus.. Im in Canada which is good.. lol.

Leaded gasoline destroys catalytic converters. CATs convert nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxygen, carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, and unburnt hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water to reduce pollution to the air.

How much would you say it ran you? And i have to run a CAT so do you think it will be much sound difference?

The elbow is part of the 20G turbo kit, the downpipe i got used from Johnny D $40 i think, the Test pipe was $80, and the exhaust was $540 new from HPF bought it in 2007. The cat does quiet it down quite a bit but still sounds good. When i have my cat on the car is really quiet just rolling around town until i get on it.

hmmm... maybe I will go with the upgraded cat then... just in case. I'm pretty sure its not a requirement here, but if I am driving through other areas it may be (I want to do some state runs eventually with it, maybe finally get to a Supra meet in vegas if they still run! :D)
