major exaust leak? do a search on exaust studs. they strip out eaisly...one thing i had to do as well as MANY others is heli-coiling the studs so they wont stip ever again, and it fixes the currently screwed holes. you may get lucky but its nicer to just do it than getting it on and having one stud just keeep tuuurinnnnnng

you need the gasket too.

maybe some copper gasket sealer for a better seal but i dunno how much it matters....mine is fine.

get the exhaust gasket from the toyota dealership it's only like 7 bucks and the bolts that keep the gasket intact are like 2 bucks a piece. i just fixed my exhaust leak like 2 days ago.

You might as well change all 3 sets while your at it.
1. Exhaust flange to the head
2. 2 little round ones where exhaust manifold mounts to the pipes
3. Exhaust collector before the cat.
And have plenty of break free or WD40 handy for the rusted nuts and studs and change them while your at it. Sometimes the nut get frozen to the stud and comes out as one piece or it snaps off. The manifold is easier to work with if its disconnected from the rest of the exhaust.

I stripped the rear exhaust stud, had the torqure wrench set to whatever it was. Stupid thing still stripped and just spins now. Its on there pretty tight some how, maybe 5lbs less than what it should lol.

no worries about the sealer dont bother. just a suggestion that i dont know anything about someone told me about it and i didnt do it. no leaks as i can tell... just get the gasket. i would search on stripped studs or heli-coil if i were you...its an issue with out heads because they are so hot on the exaust side...the metal gets weak and allows stripping/pulling of the threads..... its very common.
