I don't know how this could of happend, but apparently the guy working on my car says the exhaust is about 3 inches short at the bumper. This is the setup, see if you can tell me what may be wrong.

Tdo6 kit with that crappy elbow that comes with it, hks dp, bic test pipe, and greddy sp catback?

I would of thought this would fit with no issues.

Let me know, Bob

I don't have pics at the moment, this car is about 20 minutes from me. I can try to get them this weekend, but this is strange how I would have fitment issues on parts made for this car.

1. the exhaust was probably meant for a JZA70, which would make it 1-2" too short already

2. the test pipe may be too short

3. the 20G elbow may move the exhaust further forward.

this is the reason you run a custom DP....no tolerance stack up.

Just have them weld in a piece 3" long of whatever diameter your exhaust system is. Preferably the test pipe, least expensive and easily replaced over the Greddy catback and HKS dp.

yeah the extended pipe should only cost what 20 bucks to weld if even that? unless the guy is just trying to get money out of ya

The BIC test pipes are exactly the same length as the stock cat, 11 3/8" long. The JDM JZA70 cat backs are about 1" shorter than the 7m exhausts, which is why i make a 1" longer testpipe for the JZA70 cars. 3" sounds like allot, it would be hard to say whats going on without pics, it sounds like either the DP or exhaust has been modified in some way.

BTW the testpipe is made from aluminized mild steel.

Thanks Randy I know its not the test pipe, yeah i think the turbo elbow may be playing a factor in this also, because the greddy sp muffler section where the little 3" pipe curve that connects to the resonator section of the catback, is only about 1/8 of an inch from hitting the body. So like Doc said maybe the elbow moved it forward a bit.

td06 elbow will be fine as well, remeber that turbo kit is 7M compatible so all stock pieces could bolt right up to it.

I have a full R/T downpipe to a tanabe cat back and matched up just fine. Only issue I have is the downpipe resting on the tranny housing.

Also, how are you determining how short it is? The exhaust hanger should match up at certain points, so you could try to report the differences as you go back to the bumper?

sounds like maybe he has the exhaust hanger that bolts to the cat on upside down or something (or IIRC randy's test pipe had it welded to it?)

downpipe might be hung up on something as well as it has a plex section it will move...
