exhaust assembly question

im looking at buying a second hand stainless rear section for my mkiii na. Im not too sure about 1 thing though.

with the stainless rear section being a 2.5 inch pipe approximately i wont be able to use a standard gasket when i connect it to the original front section. would exhaust assembly paste be fine to use on its own? or would it be more likely to leak?

Have you tried test fitting it. I'm pretty sure the stock gasket will work... I suppose it depends on whether the new part's diameter is 2.5" outside diameter or inside diameter though.

no, the part is located about 100 miles from where i live. my car curently has no exhaust back section. the guy who owns it sent measurements of the flange to me and they seem very similar from what i could tell.

i cant get a new stock unit over in the uk as its a discontinued part now. unless i go to toyota but itll probably be a few hundred quid. unless a company would manufacture a 1 off standard part

Have you tried going to a muffler shop and get them to make you one smiler to stock?
