She was a primered, no rust, a beautiful 1988 Toyota Supra with a 7m-GE motor, M/T. We had memories and lots of good times. I scavenged through the entire car and stripped her of the best parts to make my car perfect. She wouldnt even put up a fight. I loved her so much cause she was the only car I could get parts from locally and for cheap at the junk yard for the last 2 years. Yesterday, I came back after 2 months to get some more parts off of her and she was GONE! The junk yard had her crushed and smashed up into a cube. As I nearly flipped out on the manager and began to explain the significance of this incredible vehicle he kicked me out. Thus, began my boycott of the pick-n-save junkyard in Daytona Beach, FL...but thats another story.

So everyone...though there are many like her and many in even worse condition. Everytime I see one, whether it's rusting to death or looking magnificant. I wish i could save every damn one of them. Cause I'm MKIII Supra 4 - life people.

This'll sound a little harsh to the overly nostalgic, but I look at it like this: For every one that dies, mine becomes a little more rare, and has a little more chance of some day becoming collectible and hence worth more than the price of the cube of steel it could otherwise be crushed into...

Be proud of your efforts, enjoy it for what it is, but at the end of the day it's just a fun old car that we all find pleasing to the eye and have become strangely accustomed to.

So they crushed a car that's been stripped of a good number of parts and been in the junk yards for while? What's the big deal? Apparently you weren't that worried about saving the car since you already stripped a lot of parts off of it. It's not like it was going to be there forever. 2 years is a long time. You should feel lucky they even kept the car that long and you were able to salvage what you did.

I thought this was going to be a post that someone wrecked your car or something... And I've seen your car and it's pretty nice, so the thread sounded sad at first.

Very anticlimactic.

junk yard near me crushed a 90 with alot of good parts still on it.i wanted to pull the mint 3pc tail light's ,but was too late.
i have an 87 in my backyard that might suffer the same.i might have fun driving it to the yard burning off the rear tire;).the car is worth more for it's weight in steel.

I have seen some MKIII's on here that should be crushed :sadwavey:

The more ragged-out, rusted old beaters off the streets the better.

mine will look like one from the outside, but it's like that on purpose. the engine/drivetrain is a different story though ;)

Comon fix it up. Make it turn heads. Fast is good but having people comment on how clean your car is is better. Hopefully when you finish the engine, you can restore the exterior.

my car is being built to hustle people, the crappier it looks on the outside, the more money people are willing to put down. i already got a brand new car that looks nice, the supra is just for messing around on the weekends.

i have the tint ripped halway off the windows, dents, dings, scratches, fading, trim messed up etc... it just looks like an old worn out car that a guy in a trailer park owns and don't really have the money to put in it to make it fast ;0

The fact that their owners are actually on this site trying to learn about their beasts is a good sign. It’s the attitude that I think counts the most when it comes to these cars, if your supra looks like shit then fine, but as long as you love the car, keep it on the road and keep planning that dream build, it’s better than having a fairly presentable car but not giving two damns about it. That’s just me anyway.

Maybe it’s because A70s are rarer over here than there, but I do feel a slight sadness when I see or hear of a supra being broken for parts and the shell being crushed. With just a little bit of time and money they could be such awesome cars, but their owners either can’t be arsed to put the work in, or don’t know the potential these cars harbor.

I think that one day, when there are only a couple of hundred A70s left on the streets and it’s achieved true “classic” status (A guy can dream can’t he? ;)), those people who killed off their A70s back in the day are going to feel it, at aleast that's what I tell myself everything I see a "Parting out" thread...
