So I replaced the valve cover shit screws with M6 bolts and painted the covers a nice blue to match some engine dressing. All is well, and everything is back together. I go to the bank to take out some cash and get back home and I smell huge amounts of burning oil??????WTF. I go to get my tools in my garage and glance to my left to see the valve cover gaskets sitting on my work bench....DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Definitely a DE DE DEEEEee moment.

Rerouted DDP and BIC thunder tomorrow WOOT WOOOOOOO.

No, I'm pretty sure he's the only one that's ever forgotten valve cover gaskets..............:biglaugh:

At least you didn't go on a longer trip where you could have ran out of oil and locked the motor up.

the best is if you turn over the engine with the covers off and there is too much oil pressure and you send oil everywhere, when doing some quick tests for cams and such.

I bought a center carrier bearing and paid to have it installed as I was too busy to do it at the time (and I didnt want to screw it up) now the index is off on my driveshaft, the guy tells me I have a U-joint going but he is afraid to fix it as he cant find my rear shaft and now the car shimmies on takeoff...
But thats not what makes me feel like a dumbass...

Reading the shaftmasters post about a replacement 2 peice just hurt me bad... Not to mention the awesome one-peice that they make.... siiigh

I've done similar on a PowerStroke. Shot oil on the ceiling. Later I found out that they use a high(1500 psi) oiling system to fire the fuel injectors. That was quite a while ago.

I forgot to tighten the fan/w.p. pulley bolts on a Chevy truck(they were finger tight). Luckily I drove it before anyone else did. Never get in a hurry...
