Engine Swap

Ok has anyone ever put a 302 5.0 EFI H.O. motor in a MKIII. I am considering it as they make power easy at low rpm. stock 215hp with a wooping 300 FT/LB. Any thoughts

Motors i am looking at are the

5.0 EFI HO 302
or
4.6 Modular 289

why not put a CHEVY motor in there if you're going to do something so...odd? small block 350 with a 383 stroker

If you do swap a v8 in, do a chevy 350. Performance parts are cheaper and easier to find. And there is no engine out there better than a chevy 350.

I would also go with a SBC if I were doing a v8 swap.

haha...the old "swap in a v8" style thread. 350 would be the cheapest as it has the most aftermarket backing. But, if you're gonna do it, cut a huge hole in your hood and put a massive blower on it, cuz even with the 350 in it you're not gonna catch the 2jz swapped mkiii's. If I had the money, I'd go 2jz. Keep the car in the toyota family and get the power you want.

There was a MK3 on ebay i saw a while ago, it had a chevy 350.. with a buncha mods..
When i looked at the engine bay i was suprised how much room there was left.. it looked tiny in there. I guess it would be cool an unique.. (go ls1 )

If you are going to swap a american V8, go with a small chevy not a small ford. the cost is really not an issue any more as 302 stuf is pretty dirt cheep now-a-days. the big problem is that the 302 is a front sump or double sump oil pan due to the oil pump being in the front of the motor and will not fit due to crossmember interferance where as all SBC's are rear sump pans as like the stock 7M and fits fairly easy. the only answer for a small ford is a dry sump oil system... now a swap that I have been continplating resently cause I can pick one up for $200.00 running complete with 7X,XXX miles on the clock is a Lexus LS400 4.0L V8 and doing a TT setup on it.
