Does anyone have a breakdown of the engine serial number. I am looking to find the year of a JDM motor.

That I don't know, but you can narrow it down by looking at the crankshaft to see whether it was a 89.5+ (with the counterweights)
Thanks Jeff, this is the motor that will have $10 grand of HPF invested in it. Finally received it, had to reorder twice. Should be nice.
86 JDM 7M-GTE's don't have oil squirters.
86-89 JDM 7M-GTE's have the 6M crank.
90 JDM 7M-GTE's have the 7M crank.
After 1990, there were no more Supras with the 7M in Japan.

thats what jeff was saying. the serial code on the block has nothing to do with that, or at least we dont know what it means so we cant tell...
