Holy shit! Thats a good price really... Considering the oil pump by itself would run you about $200... The bearings would run you about $100... If you're looking for a stock rebuild, it looks like a good deal to me...

This is like the 4th time someone has asked about this set. I will once again offer my opinion.

I bought a bunch of stuff from that seller and they are great to deal with. Fast, cheap, communicates quickly, ships right away, combines shipping, etc. As sellers go this guy is one of the best Ive dealt with on ebay. He even gave me his phone number to call when I had questions.

As for the quality of parts they are at least OEM quality. The pistons are ceramic topped, the gasket set is good quality and very complete, and the pump is a true Toyota stamped oil pump. I chose to use different rings and bearings but from what Ive read the bearings in this kit are most likely the same as cleavites as cleavites for the 7M are actually not made by them (they are reboxed).

For a stock or slighty better than stock rebuild the parts in this kit are more than worth the price.

Thanks for the opinion and sorry you've had to answer for the fourth time. Like I said before, I searched but couldn't find the exact post I was looking for. Maybe I wasn't using the correct search terms. I'll try to do better next time.

FWIW, I asked the same question on SF and I'm getting the exact opposite opinions. SM and SF are cancelling each other out.:icon_conf

Werd...

SM= technical well educated willing to help, sometimes immature group of guys...

SF= if you manage to get an answer that isnt along the lines of "Go kill yourself newb" its more than likely uniformed and rooted in a bunch of "I read it on the net" or "I heard a guy that knew a guy who was related to a guy who did it"... Oh, and mostly immature... ;)

you get what you pay for usually, I'd check the tolerances on the oil pump, the water pump is fine (they're cheap anyways), the idler pulley for the timing belt looks a bit weird (like the rollers are open not sealed).

for a stock rebuild, I'd say go for it though, they have rebuild kits like this for chevys and I remember seeing one for a 22R that was cheap and high quality floating around the internet...

Thats right...you get what you pay for...
But then again...I have seen people who have done more amazing stuff with a small budget than some people who had a big budget.

So it all comes down to the knowldege and skill of the person.

Cheers,
Roy

Like I said its a toyota pump. It has the Toyota name right in the casting, though on mine it looked like someone had tried to grind the word off. It was still plain as day.

Not everything is a wolf ins sheeps clothing. Sometimes a good deal is just that.

I really wish I had seen this 8 months ago for my rebuild. Even though I went cheap and used what I had at the time, this coulda saved me hundreds of dollars.

Oh well, Im STILL confused as to how when u buy a set of standard pistons and rings, how you make those work in our blocks, bc every cyl hole is a dif size, I just never got that.

Any idea if the pump is a GE pump or one for a GTE?

yes, but I would STILL disassemble it and check the tolerances. Even a brand new stock one may be off, not to mention there might be metal in there (saw a post somewhere where the guy had to use a pick to get some metal out of there...)

If SF had a working search you might be able to find the thread on those pistons breaking...

The gaskets and oil pump are pretty hard to screw up, but the pistons, rings, and bearings are a bit more critical. It's your call though...
