Well guys i was right about diagnosing my BHG. have a look at these pics, ever seen anything like it? It pulled the surfaces around the water jackets togather, on the exaust side and a few on the intake side....i have no idea how it kept running, or how it passed all of the compression tests i did to it?

O and two more quetions. do i have a 7m Crank? i dont think this is the motor that origionally came in my car, i have an 87 targa turbo chassis? i have a 6m crank at the house and it dosent have the same markings, it looks to be a bit beefier than the 6m, and it dosent have 6m labeled on it anywhere. and the last question, does my flywheel look ok? its been installed for 5000 miles at the most, along with the Rps stage 2. i think it looks a little ruff, anyone with experience with the findanza chime in.

YES, im glad, so this definetly ensures that this isnt my original motor. explains the wiring harness mess:3d_frown:.

damn that HG was 2 steps away from ruining yur sunny day

Yes it was, but the only hint that it was blown was the constant need to refill the overflow, and a bit of white some on start up. it passed the compression tests i performed on it, but about two months ago i was driving it pretty hard around lima, and as soon as it would come into boost and on through the rpm range under boost it would stutter and buckel, like a miss. i thought it was the cps or some other ignition problem, but apprently not.

So does anyone have any advice on the flywheel?

my clutch had the little pins riding on the flywheel and i just brought it to the local machine shop and they turned it for me for like $40.

the stock flywheel can be resurfaced or machine to make it smooth again. from what i understand, a lightened flywheel is rebuildable and can be rebuilt by fidanza (or whatever model you have) or yourself. im not sure whether or not they can be machined.
Since you have the motor out, its not a bad idea to get it rebuilt (or resurfaced) while your rebuilding your motor

summit racing sell the friction surface for the fidanza it about $80 if i remember correctly. and it comes with the screws and nuts to put it on. if you have it out I would replace it because it will be a pain later.

Guys, im asking if you think it looks bad, not if i can have it machined, and i know about the rubildable plate. The clutch and flywheel have only been in for about 5000 miles. Im asking... does it look normal for the setup, and the period of time it has been in? someone with experince with the findanza unit help me out(lets compare).

Looks to me like you have some serious high speed glazing on the flywheel. I would definitely recommend getting it fixed, either replaced or turned.

Probably wasn't properly broken in or wasn't perfectly clean when it got put in.

Sorry didnt know it was a fidanza cuz i havent seen the flywheel on my turbo motor yet so i dont know if it looks any different from the n/a model. ... but yeah i would probably do whatever is possible to get it back to a flat smooth surface again, and ive been told to take it pretty easy for the first 1000 to 2k miles for a proper break in. Also if this is a light weight flywheel and depending on what clutch your running i would do my homework to make sure the materials are correct for each other.
