Engine cuts out if I don't follow through with shift sometimes.

If I'm driving somewhat hard and shift but don't engage into the next gear and leave it in neutral the revs drop and the engine cuts out. I can take my key out of the ignition with the car still running but I've never had a problem with the car turning off while doing this. What could be causing this to happen.

mine just did this today, but it's because of my HKS ssqv. sometimes if i just leave the clutch in after it blows off, the car just dies. is your bov aftermarket?

Check the dashpot filter. It lets a little air in to prevent stalling on fast throttle closes.

it only slows the throttle plates last like 5-6% movement to give better ability to stabilize the engine rpm rather then it just slamming totally closed. doesn't let any air in.

To test it, with the car off open the throttle and pinch the little piece of vac line between the actuator and the filter and it should hold the throttle plate open a little bit, release the line and it should close all the way.

Does it stall out any other time? or just after pushing the clutch in after boosting?

Sound more like a problem with the stock bov.

check your codes. commonly, a badly adjusted TPS will cause this issue.

my key falls out during hard cornering sometimes and still runs to. thats just because the ignition switches int thees cars have been used for 20 years. but my car also does the stall out thing if im trying to stop and push the clutch in or if i didnt shift fast enough. but i also noticed that it only did this bofore the moter reached normal operating temp. i just let it warm up before i start driveing like a lunatic,

haha, my 280z(s) were like that, both of them, I had another buddy in town that my key worked not only on his ignition but his door too.... that was a mean joke, im just glad he didnt call the police :evil2:

check the accordian hose for any rips or tears, definitely check the hose coming out of the bov for cracks, your symptoms sound very similar to that of a bov venting to atmosphere. Good luck!

i have same problem, it stumbles and either dies, or it will surge to about 1500 rpms then go to narmal idle. i think my tps is slightly out of adjustment (if i hold throttle at between 1200 and 1500 it starts to idle up then down over and orer). a while back it was trowing a 54 and i think my multimeter was craping out on me so i just adjusted it untill the code went away. i know that is not the proper way but it was all that i could do.

ps: bosch bov and after market air filter
