engine break-up at 29.99 psi ? (gt4578)

i put new copper ngk and car will only start under wop then have to work it to stay running but still dies. i tested the coil packs and they were all 0 ohm. the car ran perfect up to 29 psi now wont run at all?

Sounds like you're not in the correct range on the multimeter, no way can all 6 coils be 0 ohms and the car run at all ever again Scott.

Power one side with the ECU pulling the other to ground through an ignitor.

Just about to head out to rebuild my Trans but I'll look in at lunch.

Sorry don't know the spec on those coils, I'd expect something around 8ohms, plug the multimeter in and switch the range till you get a reading that isn't 0

My autoranging fluke is a PITA at times...

The correct plugs for stock coils(I believe JZ coils are the same) are the BCPR7ES. Used to be 3330, now 6282.

Stock is the key word here, the 4644's have a better heat range for bigger turbo applications.

Really? Because they are both 7 heat range...

BCPR is just a different height. BKR's are ISO while BCPR are JIS and the BKR's are a few mm's shorter on the top than the BCPR..They're both copper, both 7 heat range.

they're all available in those heat ranges the key being the number in the 'code'. Bkr7es, bcpr7es. Both 7's

The jz motors are suppose to run the 6282's? I haven't tried these yet, but I'm willing too if that's what I'm suppose to be running.

Actually, I'm not sure if the JZ motors have the same problem as the 7M's. If you have the center spark plug cover and BKR(4644) plugs, the plug wire wont seat all the way onto the plug and can cause arcing. The BCPR(6282) plugs are a few mm's taller so this isn't a problem.

I tried the 6282's this past weekend and they performed very well up to 28.5 psi with no spark blowout at all. I'm using the 1zzfe coils which helps a lot though. Thanks for the info.
