cant. the motor was never sold here in america.

however, as long as you pass the sniffer you should be fine. the tech doing the inspection probably wont have a clue as to what he is looking at under the hood and you should find a shop that you will pass at.

thats what i figured, i do not have to have emissions where i live and i can only remember how they did it in denver... and i don't really remember them doing that (checking the engine) :stickpoke

i am going there for less than 6 months at a time though so i shouldn't really worry if it is already legal here

no egr on the 1jz.if you have a cat on there for the visual inspection and lean out the air fuel ratio it will most likely pass.this motor just runs to rich and would fail in stock form.unless you cross a guy who was employed as a toyota mechanic back in the day, most likely they will think the motor was in the car from the factory.i had two guys recognize the different motor in the car and they where supra fans, nobody else has a clue.

im in greenville, just outside of dallas, i wouldn't have to worry about it here though (there isn't emissions in hunt county, only an inspection noone really does, they just take down my insurance info and send me on my marry way)

i am just concerned for when i am in denver (they look hard for those emission control systems in your car :icon_evil ), i plan on going there for school but... i won't worry too much unless i want to move there... which i don't want to

they shouldn't be able to bother you, because you are only in the state temporary and not taking up resident's there.in this case you wouldn't be required to registar your car in that state
