electronic spark advance not working. help?

hey, just recently my brother and i rebuilt his supra engine and everything worked out fine. but when we got it running we are having a few problems. we have everything hooked up right and we set the timing to 10 degrees with the diag box jumpered. but when we take out the jumper wire there is no increase in timing and no idle changes. it is like nothing happens.

currently the problems we are having are really vibraty idle(the car shakes at idle but the rpms sit still and it sounds fine and the car has no power. boost comes on and it doesnt even pull.

his mods are intake, turbo back exhaust, lex & 550's, and engine rebuilt to stock specs, and egr delete(previous owner thanks a lot). so any help would be appreciated. its an 88 btw.

forgot to mention about codes. no fiddy too lol, no codes except for 51 which my bro says was always there which seems sketchy but i dont know what code 51 would cause. the throttle was not pressed and the ac was not on to trigger 51. the cps wires were all broken up so we had to connect wires until it ran. could some of those wires possibly be mixed around causing problems?

Code 51 is probably your throttle position sensor. How high is your idle. The spring inside the tps are bad to rust up and stick. I would take it off and and spray it to free it up and it should be fine. If it is not the problem try adjusting the tps. It has a set of idle contacts that must be made in the rest position.

i took off the tps and it looked fine but i readjusted it and know the car runs good. i have yet to check the spark advance but ill let u know. thanks for the tip

Ok. Thats good to hear you got the tps problem worked out. Let me know if you get your spark advance fixed.
