For the price manual is good, but if you have the money or you are not one to go cheap, than electric is better. But seriously, most of the time, something that costs more is better (not saying this is true all of the time though).

go to a local supply house and buy a 30psi pressure guage ashcroft is the cheapest brand it will be seriously like 6-8 bucks buy a barb fitting for the back. and you have a boost guage for 10 bucks there is no need to buy a 40 dollar guage. try to keep vacuum line length at a minimum but honestly you will have good response at any length mine is about 3 feet i think because i tapped by the wiper motor and mine is very responsive
