I have a 1990 mkiii, I just purchased it. Car set for 3 years before i got it. I put a new fuel pump in it and it works great. I changed all my fluids, getting plugs and wires tomorrow. My question is I have a whine coming from the back. Its a very high frequency whine coming from the back where the fuel pump is located. Anyone have any idea on what could be causing it to hum like that? Also, I'm getting a slight hesitation from about 800 rpm to 1600 rpm when taking off. I've got a feeling its just basic tune up stuff causing it but can anyone thing of some of the more sever things that it could be? Also, that oil filter location is fucking stupid. Thanks.

Did you change the fuel filter as well or did you test it? The oil filter location is pretty hard to get to. That's why a lot of people opt for the relocation kit.

It's only stupid if the previous owner put it in a bad spot.

What kind of fuel pump did you put in?

It was a warranty replacement from the mechanic I bought it from. I think a airtex. On Friday, I'm going to be getting a walbro. I'm fairly certain the pump is either clogged or just bad out of the box.

And numba1 I did change the fuel filter as well. Let me rephrase my oil filter Hvy, it was in a very tight spot and was not what I am used too:)

Got it figured out. Full pump was working way to hard as the tank is awful, covered with rust and crud. Had my brother look at it, I'm color blind on reds and such, he said its ate up, going to get it blasted and cleaned this week.

Yeah, when I got my Supra the PO had it sitting in his garage for 7 years. My tank, pump, and filter were rusted junk. Had to do the same thing lol.

Yeah, its possible, either way the tank needs a good cleaning. I'm going to try the electrolysis methods I've seen floating around. Also Forced, love the car and your sig.

I actually used diluted muriatic acid to clean mine. If you go this route you need to be extremely careful but it works great. Also be sure to check and be sure you are getting good wire connections. Best of luck to you.

Well I decide to try see if electrolysis would work and so far so good. Its been two days so I think after tonight and tomorrow morning it'll be rust free. Burned my arm hair off after a stray spark hit some fumes lol. More funny then scary
