Yeah, imo the stock cooling system is much maligned without reason. I've no doubt in cases where it gives trouble there's something wrong or people have mucked with it. Lol, like putting electric fans on.

Mine has never given me a problem of any kind in even the hottest weather. Even in the desert with AC full on. Now heavily modded cars, that's a different story.

has anyone found a replacement thermal switch sensor for the 212-215 stock A/C fan sensor? Maybe around 190-195?

would be nice to use existing lines and sensor location instead of using aftermarket boxes and those probe things.

I think it is 3/8 NPT for that sensor, couldn't find anything on ebay.

3/8 BSP = 1TPI different than 3/8 NPT. I ran a 3/8 NPT tap in the housing and threaded in my temp gauge sender.

supraman, I actually have the FAL kit but I would like to just stick a sensor in there and be done with it.

boltz, that is what I am talking about but it seems you have to tap your own - no sensor exists on the market that is plug and play to replace stock 212-215 sensor?

there are plenty of sensors... just that the housing threads are BSP not NPT... you could get an adaptor from 3/8 BSP to smaller NPT thread sensor.

There are kits available with an adjustable fan trigger that uses a thermal sensor rather than that mechanical probe style. you just have to match the threads or tun a 3/8 NPT tap in the housing which worked for me just fine.

The whole point of you getting electric fans + sensor and controller is to keep the engine running at a constant temp so dont use a 212-215 sensor... thats too hot. You should match to your thermostat. I run a 180 Tstat so my fans are adjusted to slightly hotter than 180

EDIT.

You could get something similar to one of these and wire it to a good relay rather than the factory relay and wiring which is probably too small for a powerfull fan.

I plan to replace my mechanical adjustable thermostat with a similar thermoswitch setup as in the link
