Ok. I'll be posting quite a few questions because I just bought a 'new to me' supra.

This car has a pyro gauge. The sensor is plumbed about 3" down from the elbow. When I was driving it home, around 75 mph, with the cruise on and not boosting except on the occasional hill; but, nothing about 3 or 4 psi. the gauge would register 1200 degrees! It's an Autometer ProComp gauge.

Is this normal temps for that location of the sensor or at all for that matter...

Sorry to butt into your post Cajun. How is that JVT radiator working for you? How was the fitment ? Im tryin to get me an aluminum radiator cause it hits almost 100 deg here in texas.I see they have good prices...any feedback would be great thanks

i thought the probe is supposed to be pre-turbo.

while on this subject, im trying to decide where the best location is to place my probe. id rather drill into the exhaust manifold than the turbo (ct26) but looking at it (the manifold), it may not be possible for me to do myself. would it be bad to try to make my hole on the turbo, like near the manifold flange? any suggestions? the probe has a tapered fitting btw

Technically speaking EGT is measured in the exhaust manifold. TIT (Turbine Inlet Temp) is measured at the turbo and is an aggregate of EGT. One of my cars used to have an instrument that graphically displayed (and monitored with alarms) EGT from every cylinder. It was handy for tuning and increasing fuel econony when deliberating running lean. You need full control of the mixture to do that though.

No problem wardog...

I would NOT go with the JVT because of fitment issues. It's not a "Drop-In" radiator by any means. I had to fab my own upper mounting brackets because the stock ones won't work and I had to do the electric fan upgrade because there was no room for the stock fan. None!! Plus, the fan shroud and secondary fan mounts were off too. About 3/4 of an inch off. I also had to cut off three mounts that didn't pertain to our supras in order for the Flex-A-Lite's to mount up. It was a LOT of work!

Other than all that, it's been cooling very well!

In the end though, I'd wished I'd bought a PWR!

Hope that helps. :icon_bigg

EDIT: Something else you might find note worthy. I won't be putting a JVT in my 91.

Thanks for the EGT input guys. I just got a little worried because the gauge maxes out at 1400 deg/f.

I'll have to edit my sig soon to post the mods on my 91. :)
