egr goes into the number 6... by design from the factory because the gases are mixed in to replace some combustion gases..
the theory is replacing the combustion gases lowers the temps and is not offset by the fact that heated gases are being injected. Yet i've seen more #6 bhg failures than other cyls..
i remain unconvinced that egr lowers #6 temps. I've been afraid to block off the egr because of the 'theory' of the factory approach, but i am still not convinced the theory is correct...although i'm certain toy would've measured it...so why is it we think 6 is hottest..is this verified or is it assumption that just keeps being perpetrated without a reality check?
