A friend of mine with a 1988 Conquest Tsi used to run a MBC and had a EGR solenoid pre-MBC which had two outlet ports. One went to MBC, one to wastegate. It hooked up to 12v and from in-cabin could switch from stock boost, to set boost.
I want to run this setup. It's inexpensive to put together and would serve its purpose well (and come on, who wouldn't want to be able to flip a switch in-cabin to go from 7psi, to 12psi+). He said going from stock boost to a high-set level was like getting rear-ended.
Has anyone done this? I want to know where I can find a good 3-port EGR solenoid to do this (one inlet, from manifold, two outlets). It should be something that can be snatched from a junkyard for really short money if anyone knew of a car which used such a solenoid.
If I hear anything, get part #'s, or know where we could find one, I will either add to this thread, or post a fresh one about how to put one together. In theory, I think it could be done (MBC, t-fitting, hoses, EGR, switch) for under $50.
