I posted a thread about my car leaking coolant from the back of the cylinder head after my rebuild. I found a thread on another Supra forum showing some Billet EGR Block off plates. I tried searching this site for some direction, but I failed. I searched Ebay as well.... Does anyone know where to get this?

I didn't remove the EGR. My Supra came like that. Why does everyone on these forums insist on being rude?

Rude? Excuse me? You purchased the car didn't you...knowing it was not there.
If you call that rude, watch this:

The USDM timing/fuel maps are programmed for the EGR in place. To run without the EGR, not only are you increasing NOx (one of the worst emissions there is), you are also risking detonation at high load mid-rpm ranges since the EGR also suppresses cylinder knock. If you are willing to risk that, have at it...myself, I call it foolish. Actually stupid, since running without the EGR will not give you any advantage whatsoever.

Just because you've done it George with no apparent problem does not make it what you would want to do.

Nope, I think it's just foolish! What I would call Stupid is me selling a good EGR to Clip while I have block offs on my motor. My motor is a rebuilt JDM, with block offs, but I use my original ECU. I'm assuming from this description that I should add an EGR back to it. With an upgraded CT, Lexus, 550's, NEO,upgraded fuel would it be necessary, adviseable, or negligable?

BTW, Jdub, I got my parts this week, Beautiful as always! Thanks

I just dialed in a little extra fuel with my S-AFC.
Car passed Wisconsin tail pipe sniffer just fine.

So the SAFC controls timing now too George? ;)
(I love the way you younger guys rationalize what you do)

Passing is one thing (I have all kind of tricks to "pass")...having a NOx emission that's 1/3 the standard like I just did today with my Toyota truck is another. Hey...it's your lungs and you're going to have to live with it a heck of a lot longer than I will ;)

....why must every thread turn into a debate? Just close this. It's useless. I'll figure something out.
I didn't know much about Supras when I had purchased mine. I didn't know that I should have looked for the EGR system.

I wouldn't ask for closure. There is a lot of good information being passed here. I have a question because I'm not 100% sure, but would the EGR have anything to do with water leaking in the first place? I thought it was an exhaust gas recirculator.

I haven't figured out yet why some people get offended when facts are brought up when asked for. John has posted reasons for not doing it that have thought and reason behind them. The side saying it's OK, is only backing it up with "I've done it, and not had any problems"...........yet! I myself ran my car with blockoffs for about a year with no problems. The forum is here for learning. If we don't listen to the other side, how will we ever learn. You said yourself you were not familiar with the Supra, and didn't know what to look for. That is not a sin. Refusing to learn is. My advise to you is tp read as much as you can around here, and when you see a post by Jdub, pay special attention. He is very familiar with the Supra, and he rarely has a wasted post.

This needs to be put where people can see it. A lot of people don't know this.

What other differences are there on a JDM ECU other than EGR?

HAC Differences? ANYTHING else? I think I may start trying to source one....

According to the OP, I'm rude...I just want to turn everything into a debate with useless knowledge.
Actually makes me wonder why I even post in threads like this. Like he said, he can figure it out for himself.

Agreed.

I'm sorry, I have read a lot of information about my car, and even the older and newer Supras. It is my only car and I need it for work. I was just thinking blocking it off would be faster than ordering another EGR cooler. Anyone have an extra one for sale?

If I've got a cooler, I'll give it to you. I'm out of town on vacation right now though so it would be a few days til i can ship it. PM me an address, and I'll see if I have one.
Arizona Performance- see approved vendors on the main page, makes a
EGR block off plate in billet aluminum. Think they cost $38.00 but you
can check that on their web site.
Good luck, Fred
