So I have a 91...used to be a n/a.. and swapped in a r-154...do I have to change the ecu from a/t to m/t?? does it matter? it does turn on and everything...tried searching but couldnt find much, thanks, alex.
One more question... i went from a usdm to jdm ge.. the jdm motors dont have EGR's..my mechanic told me to leave the TPS d/c since it idled roughly when it was connected..anyways my 2nd question is... do i have to have a jdm ecu or usdm ecu for a jdm motor??im using the same wiring harness... thats alot..
The A/T ECU will work with the manual. You will not need/use the digitized throttle position outputs of the A/T ECU.
I suspect there are some other software tweaks between the two, but I haven't done a byte comparison between the two programs.
You need to have the TPS connected. Your mechanic doesn't sound too good to me if he can't be bothered to debug the cause of the rough idle.
You can find plenty of other threads on whether an EGRless engine connected to a USDM ECU will result in part throttle leanout and engine damage. Its become a religious topic! :nono:
