Which method is easier? I'm about to drop in my rebuilt 7mgte into my n/a and came across mixed answers. Some say its easier to pull the motor and tranny and then attach the tranny to the new motor and drop it back in. Others say its easier and less hassle to just remove the motor and drop the new motor in cause you dont have to worry about working the ranny to fit back in. Which is easier? faster? Ive tried searching and read the sticky about removin the 7mgte in 49 steps which included taking the tranny out as well. Just wanted to know cause this is my first motor swap on a rwd vehicle. I'm used to civics and integras.
Thanks

Ronald

That depends if you have done either way before.

It is probably quicker to pull both if you have never done it before but if you have pulled just the engine or just the trans before than it is quicker to pull it seperately. At least for me it is.

If you will be pulling both at the same time do yourself a favour and use a load leveler, it will make the job alot easier.

get naked & boost a supra
together and after you lift a little bit, unbolt the ac compressor and power steering pump from the motor, leave the lines alone. you would think that is common knowledge but i have seen people crack the a/c lines as i was yelling to stop. then just bungee cord them to the sides.

I've pulled/installed a 7m 5 or 6 times now and I've always done it with both together. Its very easy in my opinion.

Pull them both together and it'll be easier than having to take the tranny bolts out etc. I did mine in 4 hours by myself but i dont recomend it, a second hand is always useful . Good luck

I prefer working alone, but sometimes it's better to have someone with you (to help guide, or to call 911 when you drop the transmission on your head;))

and the other person can make sure your not doing any damage to that one connector you forgot to unplug, or the A/C line you are about to crush :icon_wink

I just like having that other person around in-case I ever run into any problems that require two people, and talking makes the work seem more enjoyable to me personally.

+1111, and to compliment black sawblades when youre cursing that one wrench that just isnt getting the job done lmao.

So i pulled the motor out seperate. Will it be easier to drop the tranny and then attach to put it back in or to do it with tranny in the car?

attach it all back together unless you want an unwarranted PITA.
