why not?? he is planning on burning them up drifting anyways, and $100+ for a set of shoes thats gonna last him a few weeks at best doesnt seem practical.... if he finds a few good sets at a junk yard he could spend the same $100+ and have multiple pairs... they may be used but they will work the same, he would just need to make sure he gets sets that arent falling apart or have no pad left....
and remember these pads dont have much to begin with so dont discard a set if it looks "thin" discard if they are almost to the metal
