E-Bay rotors

has anybody tried the rotors sold on ebay for like $90(oem)-$140(drilled/slotted)? How have they done for you on your mkiii?

On a couple other forums, I've only heard good things about them, but I haven't seen anybody using them on a heavy bitch like a mkiii :shrug:

i remember a few ppl using them but that was 4-5 months ago.
i dont know whats the update on em tho i forgot who exactly tried them out.
for 140$ personally i think i'd try, but not the drilled.... id get the slotted.

We just talked to a guy yesterday who's son had a Supra with the really cheap Chinese crossdrilled rotors on it, a rotor broke in half on the freeway and locked up a front wheel and sent the car straight into a concrete barrier and totalled the car. He was ok because it's a Supra, but the car was done.

okkkk thats freaken scary. i have cross drilled/ slotted from ebay. im going to get oem ASAP! or just brembo. i have no problem with these rotors so far. its been like 4 months and brakes very tight. i guess it depends what kind of ebay rotors you get.

He didn't say exactly what brand they were, but I would closely inspect all crossdrilled rotors for hairline cracks on a regular basis. Two major things you don't want to cheap out on a turbo Supra are the fuel system and the brakes.

If you are going to update your brake system, other than going full out 1K plus big brakes, get either new oem rotors, or some slotted ones like stop tech makes. The compromise in structural entegrity (sp?) versus cooling efficiency (which you shouldn't have to worry about unless you're going well over 100 MPH and need to stop quick, isn't worth the risks. This was discussed before once, the only cross drilled rotors you should get are ones that were cast like that, and not drilled out later. You do realize that most racing cars using those rotor replace them quite often (they may even do it after each race).

Its on a daily driver, I dont really do alot of hard breaking (but when you need them to work its not planned i guess.) All I can say is they have not broken, I am thinking about upgrading to the wilwood setup sold here when I do my rebuild. If you have mods and more then stock power then look into it http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27659. if you have no mods or just a few stick with OEM, The ones I have are the slotted and drilled and when they are done I will either have the wilwood kit or oems again.

I do agree with everyone, spending money on the breaking system can not be a bad idea. I understand that most of us are broke .

Ive bought a full set from a guy on ebay Canada Ive had no problem with mine after alot of heavy braking
