why are you all not liking one another.
Great first post, do I need to take your spoon away so you wont try stirring the pot?

Nice numbers, next time dyno in 4th gear ;)
No shit... 4th is 1:1, you'd make more power dyno'n 4th...

Anyway guy, good numbers man... I LOVE that torque number... 7M FO LYF! :icon_bigg

I didn't even realize it was a 3rd gear pull. That TQ number is high because he dynoed 3rd. If he dynoed the car in 4th, it will read a little higher but the TQ curve will be lower. I promise you that.

What needs to be done to compare is run on a dynojet (maybe a 248c) and run in 4th and you will have a more accurate number

Thats bitchin man! great numbers, 21 psi seems high for that but it still turned out awesome especially for being on 550's.

good stuff

Don't forget kids......that's at 21psi on the turbo with a WET SHOT of nitrous!! The engine is still seeing the airflow for HP in the mid to low 400s. Im adding N2O and fuel from the nitrous system. I probably am getting to the limits of the 550s though. Ive got to richen up the nitrous fuel. I only made three runs on nitrous. My AFC is still tuned down in the upper RPM where I did run in the upper 13s on the AFR. With turbo only Im running in the 12s. So either I am running out of injector or my fuel jet is too lean. Either way I can fix it with the fuel jet on the nitrous.

Duh. Thats why the HP and TQ #s are flipped. I couldnt remember what gear I ran in in Atlanta but it must have been 4th!! I'm off this next week. Ill try to get back and run in 4th. Ill also tune up a little and post all the AFR. This dyno prints the AFR on a separate sheet. I think I can get the boost recorded too. Too bad itll be warmer though. Those 60s sure produce better turbo #s. Hey, maybe 4th plus a little more boost will get me 600!!!!!

Absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Wouldnt running in 3rd net more power then running in 4th? i would think it would because its a lower gear. same reason running 4.10's give more power at the wheels then 3.90's. makes sence because a 4.10 will net a faster 1/4 (in a perfect world without traction problems or driver error) and if you can do more work in less time that means more horsepower must be available due to horepower is the measure of work/time. or am i thinking about this wrong?

4th gear will give the car's "true HP and trq. ratings. And a 4.10 dif is an open dif IIRC unless from Japan, I think you're talking about the 4.30 LSD off the sport package NA's ;).

i was just refering to the gearset making use of higher torque multiplication as well as using 3rd instead of 4th ;)

Dynoing in a lower gear will net more torque, but less horsepower. Remember horsepower is a rating of torque over time.

Nosechunks, gearing niether adds nor reduces hp, it only decides in what fasion its used... The reason the 430 gets down the track a little faster is because it makes the car accelerate faster in the SAME number of rotations, or RPMs... Can some gear guy explain this better than me please? lol....I know it in my head, I just cant describe it correctly...

Wouldnt more torque at the same rpm yield more horsepower though?

given formula: horsepower = (torque*RPM)/5250

if torque was 300 at 3000rpm in third gear the calculated horsepower would be 171.

now if in 4th the torque at 3000rpm was 250 the calculated horsepower would be 152.

the math shows a change in gearing reflects a change in horsepower output. Also if there was a change in work output during the same speed that would also yield a higher horsepower. maybe im just looking at this technical or this is one of those things that is good on paper but doesnt work right in the real world. :1zhelp:
