Problem with one single pump, when it fails the vehicle / engine is inoperable and simple fix is a replacement pump.
Fundamental problem with 2 or more "intank" pumps, is when there is a failure of any of the pumps, and the reliability / hp / performance of the motor is contingent on the operation of all, then engine failure could be anticipated. Safeguard systems can be integrated to help detect and forewarn of potential problem, but w/r to economics, total cost would => to the flow rate possible for 1 larger more reliable single pump.....
