I'm on 275 40 17 DR's... I can roll into the throttle, and spin them in second, and if I shift hard to third they roast... That is on the street.

On the track they hook up decent. I only get wheelspin in first and a chirp hitting second.

I make similar hp numbers to you if those are dynojet numbers you have

interesting..... What are your 60 ft's like? i was thinking about 275/40/17's as well and just putting them on my good rims.... I made 425rwhp on a landjet dyno with 19psi on a maxed out boost controller. it has since been replaced and it hit 30psi before i went OH SHIT, and turned it down. even on 19 psi i spin them a little in 3rd on 255's. I just don't wanna buy the 245's and end up still having issues, but i also dont wanna spend 800$ on a rim/tire combo.

Back when my car was still 5sp, i used the Nitto 245s and HATED them. I was at abotu 540whp, and had to use alot of the clutch to muster 1.9 60's....

They did hook up down track though, it was just the launch that was a bitch. If you got a clutch that will take some abuse, theyll work, but far from optimal :)

In fact, you may be better off not having too sticky of a tire......your tranny will surely thank you ;)

Boost, if yur gunna do the DRs, Ive heard all over that the MT ET streets DRs are simply amazing... There's a guy here, a friend of mine, who runs them and pulls 1.5-1.6 constant 60 footers... And these are 275*40*17s... He drives the street on them, and says his only complaint is that when they warm up, they;re so sticky, everything sticks to them, lol, you can hear all the sand and rocks being flung up from the road... But, he says when they're warm, he can hook like crazy even on the street, and he's making between 450-500...

I have the MT et streets, 255's 16", 1.7 60' foot times. They never flinched on the track. If you are going to buy some tires just to run at the track, then just mount some hooiser QT pro's on the stock sawblades and call it a day. At 15 psi, you will have a really hard time getting them to spin at the track. Great life span also if you plan on doing lots of dragracing. DR's do not last very long when doing lots of tire heating in the water box.

et street or et street radial? i just ask because the et street is usually listed as 26x10.5x16, not a mm number like the radial.

also i wanted to throw in be careful running bi-ply tires in the rear and radial tires in the front. they like to skate around at speed, esp on an IRS car.

Thanks for the advice guys... i think im gonna go with the 255/50/16 MT et street radials on sawblades. Is there any reason to choose the ET streets over the radials? in this circumstance....

I pull consistant 1.8 60fts with BGF (245/50/16)drag radials. I think I can pull a 1.7 if the track prep is good. You can mount 245/50/16 BFG DR's on stock rims. I would only use the Nittos DR's for an every day tire, there just not sticky enough for good 60fts.

ET steeets would be great, but I'm not sure how good they would be for driving to the track with them on.

Dear Tun_X,
Thank you for the very relevant and on topic advice, I am hanging myself as I type.

He is right on topic, he is just quoting your poll question:naughty:

With 500hp, you should be doing a 1.55 to 1.6 60' time:love:
