I have an 87 supra that I did a 2jzgte swap on, and was wondering have any of you guys dropped the oil pan? Or did you pulled the motor out and did it that way? The reason being is the oil pan is leaking, it's where it connects to the block, I never touched the engine left it basically how i got it, (did change front and rear main seals) and ran it for a year or so no problems. Now I see a spot of oil. Thought it was the seals but they are new and traced where it could be coming from and it was by the oil pan. I guess the RTV gasket sealant is giving out. Helpful info would be deeply appreciated. Thanks guys..

best bet would be removing the front subframe as im sure the under-side of the 7m and the jz series engine have the same pattern or at least same looking oil pan to the least, because it stated the front subframe needed to be removed for teh 7m oil pan replacement it may be the same since you are using the ma70 chassis..

Have to support the engine if your going to do that. Might be easier to just pull the engine and trans out as one.

Ok I'll go under tomorrow and check on that, hope it's not too complicated.

Really, that's what I'm trying to avoid doing. I don't have a hoist to tear it out with is my problem but I'll try to see other options

What you can do is:

Take off the motor mounts bolts and a few other parts, lift the motor up about 4 inches or more and you can do it that way too. I did the lower oil pan gasket that way no issues. You should be able to get both off. If you want to remove it go for it.

Ok, I figured I'd have to lift it up a a few inches. But I'll give it a shot. Thanks guys for the help.

It will be a tight fit if you only lift it up a little bit. If you support the engine and drop the subframe you will have all the acess you need but its a ton of work because you have to remove a lot.

It honestly is not to bad if you just lift it and get some room. Maybe take the down pipe off to make room. I had no problem doing the lower oil pan, and then the upper is not hard either.

No problem, glad to see it was not bad, and now you know you don't need to pull the motor!

Yep, Thanks man. That was a piece of cake really. way better than taking stuff apart in the engine bay to get the motor out. Especially having to deal with all the power steering fluid, gear oil, etc that's going to leak out when pulling it...
