Stock was 20 plus years ago. The Toyota replacement from Nippondenso who made the OEM is now aluminum and made in China. Yet they still retail it over $500 USD. Aluminum is used for CAFE standards, and no other reason. They are not going to pour both aluminum and copper/brass in the foundry, so the replacements are also aluminum.
I inquired about the Mishimoto vs. Koyo when my fan/shroud combo exploded and took out my Koyo and was told by Aaron and Mishimoto that the mishi is thicker than the Koyo. I am now running the OEM replacement from Koyo and have Zero issues. I also ditched the stock motor mounts (kept breaking) for some revshift mounts (they had installation issues) and its been great!
