Driveshaft part. Seems overpriced.

So the long road to getting my supra ship shape (before the aesthetics anyway) rumbles on.

My mechanic (friend) and I have traced some troublesome vibration to the "driveshaft support". Toyota want around $200 for a new one. My mechanic says it's way too much and they usually go for way less.

Where would any of you guys get one? If anywhere other than Toyota I mean?

Apologies for my noobish style of posting.

That IS the discounted price. Undiscounted = 265.

He's looking around other places for me in his spare time. No online sources that any of you guys use? :-(

Post a WTB on here or spend a little more and get a steel 1-piece. You could probably find one in good shape for like $50 or so on here.

No... the support can be found for $50

you could spend a lil more than that $200 for the part new and get a 1 piece steel driveshaft.

And carp is a fish ;)

Edit: "AF1JZ meant the support can be found for $50, not the driveshaft"

I'd imagine a junkyard, WTB section if you're lucky?

The ones in junkyards are usually super worn out...

Also, it isn't the center support bearing itself that usually goes bad, it's the bearing's rubber ring support that becomes crushed from the weight of the driveshaft over time...that's when the "60MPH vibration" starts.

I take it we're talking about a carrier bearing?? If mine was junk I would fork out a little extra and get a 1 piece shaft, will save you about 20lbs of rotational mass.
