No, they will not fit. The lock washers will not allow the nuts to thread all the way on; and no don't run without them.

1st I had 1 1/2in long fine thread grade 8 bolts in there, but they seemed a bit long so I have 1 1/4 I'm going to try soon. It's not really rocket science, just find a bolt that fits, use a lock washer, and make sure its at least an SAE grade 8.

Make sure to use blue locktight, you don't want to be at shell gas station at 3:00 am with a make shift ramp and bolts you just happened to find in the back seat fixing a driveshaft thats being held in by one bolt.

(sorry for the long sentence, just bad memories)

Pegasus has a nice selection of AN hardware. Use the AN960 washers and the MS21042 jet nuts. I'll look up what length bolt to use when I get home. One washer under the head and two under the nut does it just fine. What you do not want is the threads of the bolt in the joint. The smooth shaft of the bolt should be there.

ANY grade 8 bolts will work fine. Just make sure they stay tight, I just used lock washers, no locktite, but I did use lock nuts though.

Yeah...you can do that. $5 EACH for the bolt and $4 for the nut...$3 for the washer! :eek3:
I did say baller... lol

You guys are right. Gr.8 will work beautifully. Nylock nuts if you can get them, that'd be a good choice.

Pegasus does not sell SAE bolts for good reason. AN bolts are specified by the unthreaded length and go by odd 1/8ths. That's why you can't find 1-1/4. The overall length of the AN6-12A is 1-5/16".

I used:
AN6-12A bolts at $0.69 ea
MS21042-6 nuts at $0.79 ea
AN960-616L washers at $2.99 for 100

Total cost: $8.91 plus some shipping. You can always find something else to get to make shipping tolerable, like gear oil.

No machining necessary and they fit perfectly. I'm never going to worry about them, ever.
