If you can't find anything wrong with the transmission then you might want to have a look at your motor mounts. Sometimes it's hard to tell by listening where exactly the clunk is coming from and you might be getting fooled because of your pre-occupation with your trans and driveline.

I havent looked much under the car yet, but i am having the same basic problem, the car shakes/shudders when taking off, or occasionaly shifting gears. around 22 mph there is a slight shaking(hardly noticable). If i try to do a burnout the shit hits the fan and sometimes almost no power makes it to the wheels and the car shakes so much i feel like its going to explode. everything is good though once i start moving (unless i floor it in first gear), but other than that, its like he said in the first post, as long as you dont stop you are good (i got pulled over for rolling a stop sign tonight because trying not to stop is a habbit now). In any gear, if i let completly off the gas, or step back on the gas, it lags a little bit.. its not like the shuddering but it just kinda lags... I have a 5 speed and I just replaced the clutch. the problem was there before but it seems to have gotten worse since the clutch was put in (its an rps stage 3 so im assuming thats because this clutch is much more touchy than the old one and engages harsher). Another thing i might want to say is that when i was taking off the driveshaft, i noticed there was some play in it as far as spinning goes, i didnt look to much into it yet though. after i took off all the bolts, it didnt want to come off the differential, so i just left it there cuz i had to deal with other things. that was a bad idea considering it fell off while the car was jacked up while i was puttin the tranny back in. i dont know if that did any real damage but it doesnt hurt to put it in anyways. I am going to have a look under the car tommorrow and check a few things and see what i can find. any info would be helpful! thanks

In answer to the torque converter-No it is not the same one, but it is not an original torque converter. I cant remember what the date stamp on it was but it was within the last three or four years IIRC. The converter came with the trans.

In response to the manual trans question- Could be U-joints, Diff, carrier bearing, or any other ideas in this thread that don't pertain to the automatic tranny itself.
